Forty-two Republican senators asked that Berwick's nomination be withdrawn, the AP said. Sen. Orrin Hatch, (R., Utah) led the opposition against Berwick, citing past controversial statements and a lack of management experience. Berwick is a clinical professor of pediatrics and health care policy at Harvard's medical school and was previously a pediatrician. Tavenner managed Virginia's health department under then Governor Tim Kaine. She is a nurse and has been at the CMS for more than a year.-- . >To submit a news tip, send an email to: tips@thestreet.com.
