Apples (AAPL) iPhone 5 has finally reached full availability, according to Piper Jaffrays Gene Munster.
In a note out today, Munster writes that based on his ongoing survey of 20 Apple stores, we believe the iPhone 5 has finally reached a point where consumers can walk into an Apple Store and walk out with a phone. He notes that to gauge availability, he and his team check online Apple stores for local pick-up a half hour hafter new phones are released each night.
The bottom line is that AT&T (T), Sprint, (S) and Verizon (VZ) are consistently showing 90%+ availability. He also writes Apple stores called during the day had some availability for Verizon, which had been the most constrained carrier.
Moreover, wait times for online orders have halved, to about one week.
Munster says he remains comfortable with his model of 45 million iPhones sold in the current December quarter, but notes that because full availability came so late in the quarter, there may not be significant upside to that estimate.
