Stocks to Watch: Stocks to watch Thursday: Philip Morris, Southwest

CHICAGO (MarketWatch) � Among the stocks that could see active trade in Thursday�s session are Morgan Stanley, Philip Morris International and Southwest Airlines.

Morgan Stanley MS �is slated to report its second quarter earnings before the opening bell. The banking giant is expected to earn 32 cents a share on revenue of $7.54 billion, according to the average estimate of analysts polled by FactSet Research.

Philip Morris PM will post a profit of $1.35 on revenue of a hair over $8 billion if Wall Street�s best guesses are on the mark.

And Southwest LUV �will earn 33 cents a share with sales of $4.59 billion if it meets analyst expectations.

Other companies set to release quarterly financial statements include VerizonVZ , Safeway SWY �and BlackstoneBX .

Late Wednesday, shares of IBM IBM �were on the rise after the company posted a higher quarterly profit and boosted its earnings targets for the year.
