Todays Paper Bags Have Evolved

Once frowned upon as detrimental for the reason that they robbed the earth's environment of trees, paper bags are now back in fashion. In fact, few things are more necessary - and more versatile - in today's way of life than paper bags. Inventive manufacturers have developed ecological grass and leaf bags that decompose with the bag's contents during the composting process.

As a business owner you need to be aware of the specific details that will get you noticed and the right paper bags design is the first start to get your businesses name out on the street each time a customer walks out with a purchase.

You can select from a variety of paper bags that offer an easy to carry handle to a fashionable drawstring to make your purchaser look great when they walk out of the store. After all, advertising is important when selling and you need to be the best in everything you sell. The more pleasant the packaging is the more the consumer will enjoy their purchase and keep coming back to your store for more of the same quality in exceptional customer service.

Even though the paper bag is a common household article, no one knows who first invented it. Many inventors, however, have improved on the original product. From plain brown grocery bags to lunch bags, there's a bag that's made especially for holding any item you want to carry. The options are endless when it comes to colorful, stylish, and eye-popping designs.

If you work in the retail fashion industry then your bags need to look a cut above the rest and not appear to look like the nearby grocer shop. It's about adding a sophisticated look, which will compliment your store and market its value in superiority compared to your leading competitors.

Today's paper bags have even evolved to the point of having matte satin finishes, a clear view to the bag's contents, and even mirror metallic or holographic designs as the focal point on the front of the bag.

The important factor of running a successful business is paying attention to the small details such as the paper bags you will carry in which to place the consumer's purchases. It's about bringing product placement to the next level of your business and advertising that your business offers reputable service.

What makes up a paper bag? A paper bag with style offers quality and fashion that achieves an additional status to your businesses services. It's time to make your store the best it can be by investing in a paper bag that supports your logo. This will be one of the best pieces of marketing to get your company name out onto the street.

You need to take full advantage of the potential earnings of your organization with the right look and style of paper bags and that will draw more traffic into your store.

The first and probably most significant enhancement of the paper bag made in modern times came from American inventor Margaret Knight. In 1869, while working in a shop that produced paper bags, she devised a machine that would automatically fold square-bottomed paper bags. This was a big improvement since it meant the bag would stand on its own. Even though Knight came up with the idea in 1867, it took two years for the machine to be installed.

Even with eye-appealing styles, design is not the starting point for your paper-bag decision. First, you'll want to be sure the paper and the handle are strong enough for the weight of the items you'll carry in the bag. Some handles are made of reinforced paper glued to the bag, some of cord or rope stapled, glued or woven into the bag's edges. Others have drawstring tops; these are great for liquor and wine bottle bags. Choose the handle that not only will support the weight of the bag's contents but will also be most comfortable in your hand.

In February 1872, Bostonian Luther Childs Croswell improved on Knight's square-bottomed design by adding two longitudinal, inward folds. This made the bag easier to store and better able to stand. Between 1884-1894 William Purvis, an African-American inventor devised 10 different machines for making paper bags. He later licensed his paper bag inventions to Union Paper Bag Co.

Go for the bag design that you love most. If you're shopping for gift bags, determine whether you want a design that expresses your own personality or that of the person to whom you'll be giving the gift in the bag. When you're shopping for gift bags, be sure to buy several extras in bright colors with designs not associated with a birthday or holiday. Keep them on hand for those times when you decide to give a spontaneous gift to someone and don't have time to find just the right bag.
